It’s November--time to think about Thanksgiving and going to Grandma’s house. Or maybe to visit your childhood friend, where Thanksgivings together has been a tradition since Kindergarten. Wherever you’re going, a lot of people will be on the road. We want you to be ready, to get your car ready, and to be safe above all.
While we’d never want you to get stranded, getting your car ready for that trip is critical for your peace of mind. You have to consider not only yourself but your family’s safety. And also consider the road conditions during this time of year. People are distracted by lots of things, but when the road conditions are less than optimal, that distracted driving can lead to accidents.
Emergency Car Kit
If you ever get stranded, having the right things in the car can make all the difference. If the worst-case scenario happens and you get stuck in a snowbank, there are a number of items you should have. We don’t sell these items, we just want to be helpful! Here are some things for your emergency kit:
Water. We like to carry a gallon per person for our trips. It’s also a good idea to get a case of bottled water and replace it occasionally. We all know that we can get by without food longer than we can without water, but having some food is a good idea, too.
Food. Energy bars are inexpensive and easy to carry. And believe us when we say that even you wouldn’t eat them every day, when you’re stuck somewhere and hungry, they will taste great!
First aid kit. You can get a basic first aid kit at nearly every big-box store in their automotive section. Don’t think that you have to be fully outfitted all at once, either. It’s better to get started and then you can add to it later.
Flares. Flares are always a good idea so others can find you if you’re stuck.
Blankets. Space blankets are great for emergency car kits. They’re lightweight so you can throw a few in your kit.
Our warranty for Goodyear tire and service network is good coast-to-coast. If you don’t know what kind of tires to get, stop in and talk to us! We’d love to have a conversation with you about the best tires for winter driving in the Littleton area.
