Things to do Before a Road Trip

Things to do Before a Road Trip

Are you planning a road trip this summer? Before you embark on your journey, some items should be marked off your checklist. The team at South Park Tire & Auto has put together a list of things that should be done before you head out on your road trip:  Clean your car before and during the trip.  Develop a plan of where and when you will be stopping during the trip.  Unless you have a specific destination, check out any roads that aren’t highways and contain scenic views.  Pack your vehicle with entertainment options, such as podcast, music, and child-friendly activities, if you are driving with little ones.  Gather some nonperishable snacks in case you and your passengers get hungry.  Think about joining a roadside assistance program! Spring Cleaning for Your Car

Spring Cleaning for Your Car

Spring cleaning isn’t just for your house. It’s for your car too! Especially when you live in a place like Denver, Colorado. With the winter road conditions being what they were, even your undercarriage needs a good spring cleaning. All of the salt and chemicals used to keep us safe on the roads and highways make for some pretty nasty wear and tear that can lead to rust. Oh no, not rust! That is the worst! Yes. Yes, it is.  Start your spring cleaning with a good and thorough washing of your car. Get in underneath to clean out all the rust causing agents. Thoroughly wash the entire vehicle. You will feel so good driving down the street not having that gunk all over it. You will look good too! Starting from the outside, make your way to the inside. If you don’t want to pay for a detail service, there are so many ways you can do it yourself. Using a makeup brush or a paintbrush, you can brush out all the dust in your vents. New Year’s Resolutions from Your Car’s Point of View-

New Year’s Resolutions from Your Car’s Point of View-

You’ve probably always written New Year’s Resolutions from your point of view, but what about your car? If your car could talk, what would it tell you it needed this year? Here are some ideas! Keep Me Clean While we know it’s probably not a car that writes those “Wash me!” messages on the back windows of other vehicles, don’t they ever give you a little twinge of guilt? If there’s that much grime on the windows, how can you possibly see well enough to drive? And if you can’t see well enough to drive, wouldn’t that cause your car some anxiety? We think so! So keep your car clean, and your paint will last longer. Also, you’ll be safer, too.  Organize the Paper Besides the registration, insurance, and all the manuals, people tend to keep a lot of paperwork in their cars. Now we’re not saying you have to throw away all those coupons you’re stashing in your glovebox, but how about putting them inside a little f ... read more

Winterizing Your Vehicle

Can you believe how dismally hot September has been in Colorado? One day the thermometer registered 93 degrees! Despite the obnoxiously hot September weather, fall and winter will happen very quickly. It’s hard to think about winter when it’s 93 degrees, but once we get that dreary October weather, everyone will believe that winter is on its way. Here are some things you could think about when winterizing your vehicle.  Coolant Flushes If you don’t remember when your vehicle had a coolant flush, chances are you probably need one. Most coolant doesn’t last that long. Usually only two years or 30,000 miles. You could look back through your records to check, or bring in your car and we can tell you whether you need one. The best time to get a coolant flush is before you need one, of course.  Tune-ups or Services Again, if you don’t remember the last time you had a service, then you might want to bring in your vehicle. A little thing can turn int ... read more
