Winter doesn’t just affect us -- it affects our vehicle too. With winter quickly approaching, we will be breaking out our scarves, jackets, and other cold-weather items. Just like how we are preparing for winter, our vehicle needs to prepare too. Cold temperatures can negatively affect individual components of your vehicle, which subsequently affect your vehicle’s performance. We encourage you to bring your vehicle to our shop, so our technicians can thoroughly inspect the following parts of your vehicle and provide a little extra TLC if needed: Tires: When your tires are exposed to cold temperatures, the air in your tires will contract, which leads to your tire pressure dropping. Low tire pressure can result in poor traction and, even in difficult situations, tire failure pressure. Also, the chilly air can cause the rubber on your tires to harden, making it harder for your tires to gain traction on the road. Battery: During winter, we use specific elec ... read more

Time flies by and it is officially Fall. When we think of Autumn, we think of falling leaves, hot chocolate, and pumpkins, but it is also a perfect time to take care of your vehicle. Fall is an excellent time to start preparing for winter, as many of us will drive in wet, snowy, or chilly weather this autumn. To prepare for the upcoming weather changes, the team at South Park Tire & Auto has compiled areas of your vehicle that need a little extra TLC: Don’t forget about your tire pressure! Our technicians certainly have not! Tires can actually lose one pound of pressure for every 10 degrees of Fahrenheit. During autumn, the temperatures begin to make their descent, so right now is an excellent time to have your tire pressure inspected by our team. Think about making the switch to winter tires! Once your temperature drops below 45 degrees Fahrenheit, your tire’s ability to grip the road quickly decreases, especially if that tire is all-season. If you are d ... read more

Maintaining your tires is one of the most important vehicle safety components, regardless of whether you are driving an SUV, truck, or car. Not only does it ensure your safety, but it also provides the safety of your passengers and other drivers on the road. If your vehicle runs out of gas, you will slowly come to a stop. If an engine doesn’t receive preventative maintenance, it, most likely, will refuse to start. Driving on vehicles with incorrect tire pressure is risky -- disaster could strike at any time and any speed, as it affects how your vehicle responds to steering and braking input. Tires with incorrect pressure aren’t only dangerous, but can also change your vehicle’s gas mileage and overall performance. When you drive on underinflated tires, the contact patch between your car and the road surface increases, this increased contact patch leads to more friction between the tire and road surface, which results in more wear on the tire and fuel consumptio ... read more

Summer can certainly take a toll on your vehicle. Just like how you have to break out your bathing suit, generously apply your sunscreen, and drink plenty of water, your vehicle also needs a little extra TLC. Without proper maintenance, your vehicle will be prone to overheating, since it will be working extra hard in the scorching summer heat. The team at South Park Tire & Auto Center recommends these maintenance services to ensure your vehicle doesn’t overheat in the summer: Your vehicle will need an oil service. Your vehicle’s oil keeps your engine lubricated, which will reduce friction and any heat buildup in your engine. Because of high temperatures, your vehicle is more likely to overheat in the summer, so your oil is even more crucial in providing that essential lubrication. While you are at, make sure all your fluids are inspected. In fact, all the fluids in your vehicle play an important role in keeping your vehicle cool and comfortable in t ... read more
